{"id":799133,"date":"2026-05-15T22:07:18","date_gmt":"2026-05-15T22:07:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/799133\/"},"modified":"2026-05-15T22:07:18","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T22:07:18","slug":"ronald-mcdonald-house-debuts-new-housing-facility-in-houston-expands-support-for-families","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/799133\/","title":{"rendered":"Ronald McDonald House debuts new housing facility in Houston, expands support for families"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ronald McDonald House Houston celebrated its 45th anniversary with a May 15 ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new facility near the Texas Medical Center.<\/p>\n<p><b>The gist<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The new facility is a 16-unit apartment property called the Amschwand House that provides families with a \u201chome away from home\u201d while undergoing treatments and medical care.<\/p>\n<p>The first families will move in this summer and have access to amenities such as one-and two-bedroom fully furnished units, full kitchens, private bathrooms and in-unit laundry.<\/p>\n<p>The space is meant for families \u201cthat require more space or have critical health needs that require isolation and social distancing,\u201d Community Impact <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/houston\/bellaire-meyerland-west-university\/business\/2026\/05\/01\/ronald-mcdonald-house-houston-to-open-new-facility-near-west-u\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">previously reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>What\u2019s in a name<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The nonprofit acquired the property in 2025 from Missy Amschwand Bellinger, who is the founder of A Shelter for Cancer Families.<\/p>\n<p>Bellinger used the facility to honor her late husband\u2019s wish of providing housing for patients undergoing treatment.<\/p>\n<p><b>More details<\/b><\/p>\n<p>At the ceremony, Cristina Vetrano, CEO of Ronald McDonald House Greater Houston, reflected on the organization&#8217;s impact in the Houston area over the past four decades.
