Right-hander Jack Wenninger, 24, has been the best pitcher for Syracuse, with a 1.08 ERA in seven starts this season. He hasn\u2019t given up a run in any of his previous three starts.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Whomever the Mets call upon, they\u2019ll unlikely be able to fill Holmes\u2019 shoes.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In his second season as a starting pitcher after pitching in the Yankees bullpen, Holmes was a candidate for the All-Star Game, with a 1.86 ERA in his first eight starts this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But that all changed with the Jones comebacker.\u00a0<\/p>\n
