Texas A&#038;M"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ATHENS, Ga. \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>No. 5 Carolina women&#8217;s tennis is set to take on no. 4 Texas A&amp;M in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals Friday evening. The top-5 battle will take place at the Dan Magill Tennis Center in Athens, Ga. beginning at 7 p.m.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nIn their second consecutive NCAA Quarterfinal appearance, the Tar Heels will take on familiar postseason foe in the Aggies of Texas A&amp;M. The teams last met in the 2024 Super Regional where Texas A&amp;M came out on top, 4-1. The Tar Heels are 1-1 all-time against the Aggies in postseason play.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nBetween both programs, Friday&#8217;s match will feature three top-25 singles players. Each team also has three doubles pairings ranked in the latest ITA rankings.\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nTo advance to the quarterfinals, UNC topped no. 12 Michigan, 4-2, in a Super Regional thriller last Friday.\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe Tar Heels opened the NCAA Tournament with back-to-back sweeps. The junior went 3-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles including a ranked singles win during the ITA Indoor Championships.<\/li>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/goheels.com\/sports\/womens-tennis\/roster\/reese-brantmeier\/27475\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"27475\" target=\"_blank\">Reese Brantmeier<\/a>\u00a0was named ACC Player of the Week for the second consecutive week (Feb. 3) after having another standout weekend for the Tar Heels going 2-0 in singles and 1-1 in doubles while helping lead the team to two top-10 wins. Both of Brantmeier&#8217;s singles wins clinched the team win for Carolina against no. 9 NC State and no. 1 Georgia.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/goheels.com\/sports\/womens-tennis\/roster\/reese-brantmeier\/27475\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"27475\" target=\"_blank\">Reese Brantmeier<\/a>\u00a0and doubles partner\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/goheels.com\/sports\/womens-tennis\/roster\/alanis-hamilton\/27477\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"27477\" target=\"_blank\">Alanis Hamilton<\/a>\u00a0were tabbed ACC Doubles Team of the Week on Jan. 27 after topping two ranked opponents from Virginia and Charlotte. The duo has gone 5-1 to start the season.<\/li>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/goheels.com\/sports\/womens-tennis\/roster\/oby-kajuru\/27482\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"27482\" target=\"_blank\">Oby Kajuru<\/a>\u00a0was tabbed ACC Player of the Week on Jan. 20 for the first time since she joined the program. No. 23\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/goheels.com\/sports\/womens-tennis\/roster\/oby-kajuru\/27482\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"27482\" target=\"_blank\">Oby Kajuru<\/a>\u00a0defeated no. 5 Savannah Dada-Mascoll from App State for the first ranked singles win among the Tar Heels this season. The win helped the graduate earn the weekly honor from the league.<\/li>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<li>The Tar Heels downed no. 14 Virginia, 6-1, for their first ranked win of the 2026 campaign.<\/li>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<li>With the team&#8217;s win over App State, head coach\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/goheels.com\/sports\/womens-tennis\/roster\/coaches\/brian-kalbas\/4561\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"4561\" target=\"_blank\">Brian Kalbas<\/a>\u00a0reached 800 career wins.
