The Gods of Comedy is the hilarious story of Daphne and Ralph, young classics professors who have just made a discovery that&#8217;s sure to turn them into academic superstars. But something goes disastrously wrong, and Daphne cries out in a panic, &#8220;Save me, gods of ancient Greece!&#8221;\u2026and the gods actually appear!<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.broadwayworld.com\/people\/Ken-Ludwig\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Ken Ludwig<\/a>&#8216;s The Gods of Comedy was first produced as a co-production between <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.broadwayworld.com\/people\/McCarter-Theatre-Center\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.broadwayworld.com\/people\/McCarter-Theatre\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">McCarter Theatre<\/a> Center for the Performing Arts in Princeton, NJ and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.broadwayworld.com\/people\/The-Old-Globe\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">The Old Globe<\/a> Theatre in San Diego, CA. It opened at <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.broadwayworld.com\/people\/McCarter-Theatre-Center\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.broadwayworld.com\/people\/McCarter-Theatre\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">McCarter Theatre<\/a> Center on March 16, 2019, and at The Olde Globe Theatre on May 16, 2019.\u00a0 Broadway Street Review said, &#8220;The jokes flow fast and furious&#8221; and Town Topics called it &#8220;witty and refreshing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.broadwayworld.com\/people\/Ken-Ludwig\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Ken Ludwig<\/a> may well be the most performed playwright of his generation. He has had six productions on Broadway and eight in London&#8217;s West End. His 34 plays and musicals are staged around the world and throughout the United States every night of the year. They have been produced in over 20 languages in more than 30 countries, and many have become standards of the American repertoire. His first play, Lend Me a Tenor, won two Tony Awards and was called \u201cone of the classic comedies of the 20th century\u201d by The Washington Post. Crazy For You was on Broadway for five years, on the West End for three, and won the Tony and Olivier Awards for Best Musical.
