{"id":800868,"date":"2026-05-16T15:49:12","date_gmt":"2026-05-16T15:49:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/800868\/"},"modified":"2026-05-16T15:49:12","modified_gmt":"2026-05-16T15:49:12","slug":"iran-to-unveil-mechanism-to-manage-strait-of-hormuz-traffic-for-ships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/800868\/","title":{"rendered":"Iran to unveil mechanism to manage Strait of Hormuz traffic for ships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Iran has prepared a mechanism to manage traffic through the Strait of Hormuz along a designated route that will be unveiled soon, the head of the Iranian parliament&#8217;s national security committee, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/middle-east\/article-895013\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ebrahim Azizi<\/a>, said on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">In a post on X\/Twitter, Azizi stated that the mechanism was created in an effort to ensure \u201cthe guarantee of international trade security.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added that only <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/middle-east\/iran-news\/article-896072\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">commercial vessels<\/a> and parties cooperating with Iran\u2019s leadership will be allowed to benefit from the new process.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Azizi explained that the mechanism would provide \u201cspecialized services\u201d for which fees would be charged to any vessels that transit the strait under the new plan.<\/p>\n<p>He also noted that \u201cthis route will remain closed to the operators of the so\u2011called \u2018freedom project,\u2019\u201d in reference to the US\u2019s Project Freedom, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/international\/article-895240\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">now paused operation<\/a> to guide vessels through the strait.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, US President Donald Trump told Fox News that he was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/middle-east\/iran-news\/article-895813\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">considering renewing Project Freedom<\/a> after having halted it on May 6, citing \u201cgreat progress\u201d in US-Iran peace negotiations as the reason for the pause.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The renewed project, Trump stated, would expand beyond escorting vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.
