NEW YORK (TNND) \u2014 Two men were killed and three others were seriously hurt in New York City after a suspected drunk driver slammed into several parked cars before jumping a curb and crashing into people sitting outside a barbershop on Friday evening, according to reports.<\/p>\n

Citing police, The New York Post<\/a> identified the driver as 61-year-old Elvin Suarez, of Morningside Heights.<\/p>\n

A witness described the scene as a “horror show” and told the media outlet the driver “pinned” one of the men under his car. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt was unsettling, truly unsettling,” David Lawrence, the witness, said. “It looked like a Halloween set-up. Just his head and his arms were completely disfigured.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In a social media post<\/a>, the New York Police Department (NYPD) announced it was conducting “a collision investigation” near West 109 Street and Amsterdam Avenue in Manhattan on Friday around 7 p.m. <\/p>\n

The NYPD urged drivers to avoid the area. <\/p>\n

Two men, ages 35 and 46, were pronounced dead, the outlet said. Three others, ages 36, 44 and 51, were taken to nearby hospitals in critical condition, per the outlet. <\/p>\n

Family and friends told The Post<\/a> that one of the men who was killed was a father of triplets. He worked at a hospital, while the other was a doorman who had recently finished his shift, the report noted. <\/p>\n

Police said the driver was taken into custody and transported to a hospital, where his blood was tested for alcohol. He now faces multiple charges, including manslaughter, vehicular assault, and driving while intoxicated. <\/p>\n

Witnesses said community members rushed to help victims and pull the driver from the wrecked car moments after impact. <\/p>\n

“(I) ran outside and there was just chaos over there on the street,” Matt Amsterdam, another witness, told WABC<\/a>. “I didn’t know what happened immediately, but we knew it was an accident. I went over and I saw one person on the ground who I could tell immediately was struggling for life — if he had any left.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
