Capt. Maoz Israel Recanati, 24, from Itamar, was killed during combat in southern Lebanon<\/a>, the IDF announced on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Recanati was a Platoon Commander in the Golani Brigade\u2019s 12th Battalion and was posthumously promoted from lieutenant to captain. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, he was due to marry his fianc\u00e9e in about a month.<\/p>\n

The IDF did not specify when Recanati was fatally wounded.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe entire people of Israel bows its head in mourning over Captain Maoz Yisrael Recanati, of blessed memory, a platoon commander in the Golani Brigade\u2019s 12th Battalion, who fell in battle in southern Lebanon,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu<\/a> said in a statement.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“My wife and I send our heartfelt condolences to the family of Maoz, of blessed memory, a heroic fighter who courageously led his soldiers against our enemies.<\/p>\n

Several other soldiers have been announced as having been killed in Lebanon by Hezbollah terrorists over the last week.<\/p>\n

On Friday, the IDF announced<\/a> that Staff-Sgt. Negev Dagan, 20, from Dekel, was killed during combat in southern Lebanon.<\/p>\n

Dagan was wounded when Hezbollah terrorists fired a mortar towards his unit, operating near the Litani River. One of the mortar shells exploded near Dagan.<\/p>\n

On Monday, the military announced<\/a> that First Sergeant (res.) Alexander Glovanyov, 47, from Petah Tikva, was killed on Sunday after a Hezbollah drone hit the tank carrier he was driving near the Israel-Lebanon border.<\/p>\n

A preliminary investigation showed that Hezbollah terrorists had launched a fiber optic drone toward Israel. The drone had hit Glovanyov\u2019s tank carrier near an IDF outpost on the Israeli side of the border.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Capt.
