Man wanted after human remains found at his home in Far South Bexar County<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\nAccording to the sheriff’s office, Byrd admitted to investigators that he and his wife got into a fight on June 16, during which he attacked her. <\/p>\n
Deputies believe this altercation led to her death, after which Byrd allegedly took steps to conceal her body.<\/p>\n
Deputies reported that Byrd had spoken to numerous people about the incident, but his claims were not taken seriously. <\/p>\n
The sheriff’s office stated that Byrd continued to live in the home, attempting to mask the odor and explain its source to visitors for over 30 days.<\/p>\n
Sheriff Jeff Salazar expressed surprise at Byrd’s openness with investigators. “He was very matter of fact as he described this violent encounter with Ms. Byrd,” said Salazar. “One of the things that left a huge impression on me was when he detailed to the investigator that he had never been arrested before, that he had never committed a crime before, and then blurted out the comment to our investigator, ‘You know, go big or go home.’ And that was pretty shocking to me.”<\/p>\n
Byrd is currently charged with tampering with evidence.
