Ted and Amy’s Clambake at Sharkey\u2019s in Liverpool has become a beloved summertime tradition for the Central New York community. Now in its third year, the event, hosted by 93Q\u2019s Ted and Amy, offers more than just seafood and sunshine.<\/p>\n
Rick Nuzzo, Sharkey\u2019s marketing representative, explained the event’s origins: “Everybody used to go to Hinerwadels\u2019 for their clam bakes. When that closed down, it kind of left a little gap in the community. Where do we go to have, you know, a great clam bake at the community together? So that’s when this idea was born.”<\/p>\n
The clambake provides an opportunity for community members to enjoy good food and, in some cases, make new friends. <\/p>\n
Amy Berger, an attendee, shared her experience: “This lady was sitting all by herself. We asked if we could share a table. She said my husband’s coming back with clams. It’s a four top. She said of course join us. We’ve been there the whole day. It’s been great.”<\/p>\n
With live music and giveaways throughout the day, the event hosts, Amy Robbins and Ted Long, said they look forward to it every year. “It’s great to meet the people that actually take the time to listen to us every morning,” they said. “And now it’s because we’ve been doing it for so long. It’s kind of multi-generational.”<\/p>\n
Robbins and Long emphasized the importance of the event to the local community. “We’re all from Central New York. I mean, this is our home, this is where our families are from. And it means a lot that we have so many people that love Central New York. And we’re a part of it.”<\/p>\n
