New timepiece causes store closings \u2013 NBC New York"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A number of &#8220;Swatch&#8221; stores from London to New York had to close Saturday, all because the frenzy over a new watch.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Royal Pop Collection&#8221; is a collaboration between Audemars Piguet and Swatch. Surging crowds prompted last-minute closures at stores over safety concerns. That included the Swatch locations in Soho on Spring St., Roosevelt Field on Long Island and at 17 other stores nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>Prices for the watches range from $400 to $420 each.<\/p>\n<p>Audemars Piguet watches typically go for anywhere from $20,000 to well over $1 million each.
