\n\tWill Ferrell<\/a> may have reached elite Saturday Night Live alumni status as a six-time host tonight, but it was musical guest Paul McCartney<\/a> who brought the house down and closed out the show \u2014 and Season 51 as a whole \u2014 with a surprise third performance.<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring cast goodnights \u2014 and just as eagle-eyed viewers may have spotted Weekend Update co-anchor and Pete Hegseth impersonator Colin Jost popping up on stage, wearing a bald cap<\/a> \u2014 McCartney made his way back toward the band, quickly gathering the musicians for a final encore, performing \u201cComing Up,\u201d the opening track off his 1980 McCartney II.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs the show, which often cuts out during goodnights due to time, went over, the cast could be seen rocking out and dancing in the foreground.<\/p>\n

\n\tSeen in the background and having performed alongside him as drummer was Red Hot Chili Peppers<\/a>\u2018 own Chad Smith<\/a>, who appeared earlier in the night when he crashed Ferrell\u2019s monologue<\/a>, pretending to be the Elf star and delivering the beginnings of his opening lines. McCartney also featured during the opener, as the \u201ccute one\u201d Ferrell called out to when taking questions from the audience.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Beatles alum also showed up in a later sketch, alongside Ferrell, Marcello Hern\u00e1ndez, Mikey Day and Ashley Padilla, titled \u201cwhat it feels like talking to a mechanic.\u201d<\/a> The bit centered around the car mechanics\u2019 (Ferrell, Hern\u00e1ndez and McCartney) increasingly nonsensical jargon, which included lines from Flo Rida\u2019s hit \u201cLow\u201d and odd moaning, groaning and screeching. \u201cYou\u2019re gonna need a new transperson,\u201d Ferrell said at one point.<\/p>\n

\n\tMcCartney played chief mechanic Nigel, who told the couple (Day and Padilla): \u201cYour tipsy-wipsy\u2019s all dangly-doodly, and the spiggly-wiggly\u2019s gone crumpet. The whole car is knackered.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cPlus, the steering wheel\u2019s on the wrong bloody side,\u201d the legendary musician added.<\/p>\n
