\n\tAs Will Ferrell<\/a> bounced down the stairs to take center stage at Studio 8H to kick off his sixth stint hosting Saturday Night Live, it became readily apparent something was \u2026 amiss. <\/p>\n

\n\tHitting his mark to address the enthusiastic audience was not the Elf star but rather Red Hot Chili Peppers<\/a> drummer Chad Smith<\/a>, who was dressed in the same blue suit and styled the same way as the former. Watch the bit below.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cEveryone shut up,\u201d Ferrell said as he finally made it out in front of the audience, discouraging everyone from cheering for Smith, who he said \u201cpushed me down backstage.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAnd I fell \u2014 hard. And Lorne had to give me mouth-to-mouth,\u201d Ferrell quipped.<\/p>\n

\n\tSmith, trying to stay in the spotlight, claimed he was the musical guest, before Ferrell ushered him off stage. Trying to do a \u201chard reset,\u201d Ferrell noted the vibe still felt \u201cweird\u201d and \u201coff\u201d and that Smith took wind out of his sails.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhatever, OK, fine, I\u2019ll just do whatever the host does when they don\u2019t have any ideas,\u201d he previewed, beginning to take questions from the audience. Paul McCartney, tonight\u2019s actual musical guest, was up first, playing into the doppelganger Ferrell-Smith bit and confusing the two.<\/p>\n

\n\tFerrell then listed off a murderer\u2019s row of McCartney\u2019s greatest penned hits. Despite his obvious talent, though, McCartney can\u2019t take credit for \u201cThe Alphabet Song,\u201d \u201cTimber (ft. Pitbull)\u201d and \u201call the Smash Mouth stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAs previously mentioned, with tonight\u2019s hosting appearance, Ferrell is among the rarefied class of performers who has surpassed SNL\u2018s coveted Five-Timers distinction, alongside the likes of previous cast members including Tina Fey (also six) and reigning leader Chevy Chase (eight times).<\/p>\n
