Finding one can require a little luck. And you may feel even luckier if you find one with a broken parking meter. But you still have to pay.<\/p>\n<p>The Street Transportation Department says a \u201cbattery issue\u201d has caused some parking meters in the downtown area to malfunction. The agency says it&#8217;s aware of the problem and working to replace the batteries.<\/p>\n<p>Drivers encountering a broken parking meter are advised to make payment via the mobile app or through an online payment method \u2014 failure to do so could result in a fine.<\/p>\n<p>The city says staff are identifying and fixing these broken meters as they make the rounds for collections.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Open parking spaces can be elusive on the streets of downtown Phoenix.
