When EMS arrived at the scene, the woman had already died, according to police.<\/p>\n

SAN ANTONIO \u2014 A San Antonio man is facing a murder charge after police say he strangled the mother of his child during an argument at an east-side apartment complex.<\/p>\n

According to a police report, 24-year-old Marc Damien Balditt was arrested Wednesday night after officers responded to The Park at Sutton Oaks apartments in the 1000 block of Locke Street for a reported assault in progress.<\/p>\n

Police say Balditt called 911 himself and told dispatchers he had placed the woman in a headlock to \u201cput her to sleep,\u201d but she was no longer responding.<\/p>\n

Investigators said Balditt told officers the two had been talking about their child when the conversation escalated into an argument that turned physical.<\/p>\n

According to the report, Balditt then placed the woman in a chokehold and did not let go for at least two minutes.<\/p>\n

When EMS arrived at the scene, the woman had already died, according to police.<\/p>\n

Authorities said the couple\u2019s child has since been placed in the custody of Child Protective Services.<\/p>\n

Balditt is currently being held on a murder charge.
