NEW YORK CITY (WABC) — On this episode of “Up Close,” we’ll discuss the hantavirus outbreak<\/a> on a cruise ship and the all-out effort to contain the virus as passengers return to their home countries.<\/p>\n

There are at least 10 confirmed cases and 18 passengers were flown back to the U.S. where they are now under quarantine. Those suspected of being infected are in isolation.<\/p>\n

So how concerned should we be? We ask New York City’s Health Commissioner Dr. Allister Martin about that and also address concerns about other diseases in our area like measles.<\/p>\n

But first, we’ll talk about a new era in city government — one that can balance ambition and responsibility.<\/p>\n

Mayor Zohran Mamdani said the city’s fiscal crisis is over after unveiling a budget of more than $124 billion<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He was able to close the $5.5 billion budget deficit with help from the state, but some are worried about long term budget deficits for the city.<\/p>\n

We’ll talk to New York City’s first Deputy Mayor Dean Fuleihan.<\/p>\n
