PHOENIX (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 A central Phoenix restaurant is serving up traditional homemade Mexican food and drinks, perfect for a summer meal in the Valley. <\/p>\n

Tacos Chisco opened in 2022 near 51st Avenue and Union Hills Drive in Glendale, and welcomed customers to their second location in Phoenix near Northern and 19th avenues a year later. The Glendale location has since become a catering-only establishment.<\/p>\n

The restaurant was a dream by Gustavo Rebollar and his partner Erika Siqueiros, and with the help of their family, Tacos Chisco became a reality. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a family-owned business and of course we do have a great staff to compliment us, but this was their dream so they could put everything together including the decor, the menu and the Taco Chisco logo,\u201d said David Siqueiros, Erika\u2019s father. <\/p>\n

Chisco is the name of a small town where Gustavo was born, south of Mexico City. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been cooking in the restaurant business since 13 years old. So, I went from washing dishes to serving over the counter to cashiering, serving, management. And this is the first time I actually started cooking at my own restaurant. But I always love cooking,\u201d said Gustavo. <\/p>\n

Everything at Tacos Chisco is made in-house. \u201cWe have our homemade made-to-order guacamole that goes great with our homemade chips, homemade desserts,\u201d said Gustavo. \u201cOur most popular sell which is the fire roasted elote on the cob or off the cob.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s unique. It\u2019s a specialty menu. You\u2019re not going to get that same type of taste and the food is just so different,\u201d said David.<\/p>\n

Other delicious menu items include Taco Chisco\u2019s tacos, quesadillas, burrito bowls, grilled elote and salads. One of their signature dishes is the Quesabirra, which comes with onion, cilantro, lime, consomm\u00e9, and a side. <\/p>\n

Appetizers include grilled nopal with grilled shrimp, garnished with grilled bell peppers and topped with fresh lime juice. The summer specials include fresh filet tacos and grilled shrimp tacos, garnished with coleslaw aioli and cilantro. All tacos are served with lime and salsa on the side. <\/p>\n

For those looking to cool down in the hot Valley summer, Tacos Chisco offers a variety of margaritas with flavors like guava and strawberry mango. For nonalcoholic drinks, try the refreshing watermelon fresca or sweet horchata. <\/p>\n

Desserts include freshly baked churros with vanilla bean ice cream, tres leches cake, and homemade flan. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe wanted to carry to our neighborhood with fresh Mexican style cooking, southern. We like to utilize our fresh ingredients local brands or local companies,\u201d said Gustavo. <\/p>\n

Deals and Events<\/b><\/p>\n

Tacos Chisco offers several delicious deals, including Taco Tuesday, where customers can mix and match three tacos for $9, featuring options such as chorizo, ground beef, carnitas, and cochinita. There\u2019s also a deal of three specialty tacos for $11.<\/p>\n

Happy Hour is also available Tuesday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Customers can enjoy $5 draft beer, margaritas, sangria, and Micheladas with Tecate, along with $2-$3 tacos, burritos, chips, and salsas. <\/p>\n

Tacos Chisco also hosts events, including trivia night. They welcome large parties or events, as their outdoor patio can accommodate up to 80 people.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not in a competition with any other Taco shop or any Mexican restaurant. We like to do our own thing, which is our recipes and just stick to them. We don\u2019t care for competition. We just care for to make our food to flow so everybody can see what we Taco Chisco\u2019s about,\u201d said Gustavo. <\/p>\n
