A fatal crash in Northeast Philadelphia left two people dead on Saturday night. <\/p>\n
A driver went through a red light, crashing into a car that had a green, killing its two occupants, police said.<\/p>\n
Right after 11:30 p.m., a green 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee was speeding westbound on East Hunting Park Avenue in Juniata Park, police said.<\/p>\n
As the Jeep approached the intersection with K Street, the 23-year-old woman driving went through a red light, striking a gold 2004 Lexus ES330.<\/p>\n
The Lexus, driven by a 60-year-old woman, had been traveling southbound on K Street. She had a green light when her car was T-boned, police said. <\/p>\n
They both carried passengers.<\/p>\n
The Philadelphia Fire Department arrived shortly after midnight, pronouncing the 60-year-old Lexus driver dead at the scene. Her companion, a 55-year-old man, was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:15 a.m. The cars were inoperable after the collision, with the Lexus sustaining catastrophic wreckage and the Jeep having severe front-end damage. <\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Jeep driver and the 25-year-old man with her were transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.<\/p>\n
She has head trauma. He has a minor head laceration and general pain. But, both are in stable condition, police said.
