{"id":804128,"date":"2026-05-18T02:28:13","date_gmt":"2026-05-18T02:28:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/804128\/"},"modified":"2026-05-18T02:28:13","modified_gmt":"2026-05-18T02:28:13","slug":"we-were-having-dinner-then-pop-pop-pop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/804128\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;We were having dinner, then Pop Pop Pop!&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What started as a peaceful Sunday dinner with company enjoying pork chops,\u00a0chicken thighs, and mashed potatoes quickly became dangerous when a giant pine branch unexpectedly snapped, breaking a hydro line leading to\u00a0a home at\u00a01044 Premier Road in the City&#8217;s south end.<\/p>\n<p>The homeowner told BayToday there\u00a0were no injuries, but he was &#8220;blown away&#8221; when he found out what happened, because winds were calm.<\/p>\n<p>Midway through the 6 p.m. meal, the family heard a loud\u00a0&#8220;Pop, Pop. Pop.&#8221; and the power went out.<\/p>\n<p>Not knowing what was happening, they fled the house and called 911.<\/p>\n<p>A witness says she was in her car and saw the branch break, then three loud pops, and lots of smoke. She said the falling wires narrowly missed a bicyclist passing by on the roadway.<\/p>\n<p>Fire crews were quickly on scene, climbing to the roof and making sure the hydro stack wouldn&#8217;t start a fire by pulling back shingles and spraying soapy water inside.
