\n\tOn the heels of its in Competition debut at Cannes<\/a>, where it received a seven-minute standing ovation<\/a>, Neon<\/a> has released the official teaser for Na Hong-jin<\/a>\u2018s buzzy sci-fi title, Hope<\/a>, which will bow in theaters this fall.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe just over minute-and-a-half first look previews a desolate, bloodied and disordered street, lined with wrecked cars and abandoned buildings. As the eerie, synth-forward and siren-infused score picks up, viewers get a glimpse at the aliens terrorizing a South Korean town.<\/p>\n

\n\tPer the official synopsis: \u201cIn Hope Harbor, a remote village near the Demilitarized Zone, police chief Bum-seok receives alarming news from local youths that a tiger has appeared. As the village erupts into panic, Bum-seok is forced to confront a reality beyond belief.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe starry cast includes Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, Hoyeon, Alicia Vikander, Michael Fassbender, Taylor Russell and Cameron Britton. <\/p>\n

\n\tEarly reviews for the film praise it as an action-packed blockbuster that, as Deadline\u2019s Pete Hammond put it<\/a>, \u201cnever lets up for a minute of its two-hour, 40-minute running time and out-Hollywoods anything of its kind made by Hollywood.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThis is Na\u2019s fourth trip to the French Riviera fest, following his three previous films:\u00a0The Wailing, which screened Out of Competition in 2016; the crime-thriller\u00a0The Yellow Sea, which screened in the Un Certain Regard section in 2011; and his thriller\u00a0The Chaser, also Out of Competition in 2008.<\/p>\n

\n\tNeon acquired the North American and English-language rights<\/a> to Hope in April, after reportedly aggressively pursuing the project since an early footage presentation in November. Later on, it was announced that Mubi<\/a> picked up the rights<\/a> for Latin America, Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Turkey ahead of the film\u2019s Cannes debut.<\/p>\n
