BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Men and women who may be struggling with addiction can get the important help they need in Baton Rouge.<\/p>\n
During Mental Health Awareness Month, doctors at the Baton Rouge General are highlighting the resources available at the Baton Rouge Recovery Health Residential Treatment Center.<\/p>\n
There is comprehensive and residential treatment available for men over the age of 18. For people who don\u2019t need inpatient care 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the center also offers an intensive outpatient program that treats both men and women.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat all of the research shows is if you\u2019re in the throws of addiction, you\u2019re far more likely to have better outcomes if you\u2019re in a treatment setting, whatever treatment setting you feel comfortable with,\u201d said Dr. Blake Bourgoyne, the medical director for the Baton Rouge Recovery Health Residential Treatment Center.<\/p>\n
Dr. Bourgoyne said the first month of sobriety is often the most difficult. He added that people may also feel defeated in the months after that. However, his treatment center is working to give patients hope.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re trying to just stick with them with our new outpatient program and keep at it, offer different medication options, supplements, and lifestyle changes to help better your life,\u201d Dr. Bourgoyne explained.<\/p>\n
The residential treatment program runs for 28 days and includes group and individual therapy, self-reflections, and personal assignments during a live-in environment.<\/p>\n
People who participate in the intensive outpatient program can expect one-on-one meetings with licensed addiction counselors, group therapy, and ongoing support to maintain long-term sobriety.<\/p>\n
