{"id":806765,"date":"2026-05-19T05:35:41","date_gmt":"2026-05-19T05:35:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/806765\/"},"modified":"2026-05-19T05:35:41","modified_gmt":"2026-05-19T05:35:41","slug":"mag-partners-hires-andrew-staniforth-as-co-head-of-development-commercial-observer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/806765\/","title":{"rendered":"MAG Partners Hires Andrew Staniforth as Co-Head of Development \u2013 Commercial Observer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>MaryAnne Gilmartin<\/b>\u2019s <b><a href=\"https:\/\/commercialobserver.com\/company\/mag-partners\/\" title=\"MAG Partners\" class=\"company-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MAG Partners<\/a><\/b> has hired <b>Andrew Staniforth<\/b> as co-head of development, Commercial Observer has learned.<\/p>\n<p>Staniforth will lead development across MAG\u2019s portfolio in New York City and other major markets alongside fellow co-head <b>Aida Stoddard<\/b>, who joined the development firm in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/commercialobserver.com\/2026\/05\/tscg-president-nichole-popovics-icsc\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New TSCG President Nichole Popovics on What to Expect at ICSC<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Staniforth is no stranger to working with Gilmartin, as he was the MAG founder\u2019s intern at the old <a href=\"https:\/\/commercialobserver.com\/company\/forest-city-ratner-companies\/\" title=\"Forest City Ratner Companies\" class=\"company-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Forest City Ratner Companies<\/a> in 2011 and eventually moved up to vice president of development at the now-defunct firm. At that company, he worked on projects such as the luxury apartment building at <b>461 Dean Street<\/b> next to Brooklyn\u2019s <b>Barclays Center<\/b>, the mixed-use <b>Pacific Park Brooklyn <\/b>development and the <b>Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum<\/b> renovation in Long Island.<\/p>\n<p>Staniforth started in his new role at MAG on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s funny to think back to my early days at Forest City and realize the people who shaped me have stayed in my corner for the last 15 years,\u201d Staniforth said in a statement. \u201cMaryAnne has been one of them since day one.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe work that interested me at the start is the same work that interests me now: the hard projects that change our city the most,\u201d Staniforth added. \u201cMAG Partners has built a pipeline of exactly that kind of work \u2014 and the team to execute.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Staniforth was most recently CEO of <b><a href=\"https:\/\/commercialobserver.com\/company\/assembly-osm\/\" title=\"Assembly OSM\" class=\"company-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Assembly OSM<\/a><\/b>, <a href=\"https:\/\/commercialobserver.com\/2022\/01\/andrew-staniforth-and-maryanne-gilmartin-plotting-a-modular-empire-with-assembly-osm\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a modular construction company<\/a> that spun out of<b> <a href=\"https:\/\/commercialobserver.com\/company\/shop-architects\/\" title=\"SHoP Architects\" class=\"company-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SHoP Architects<\/a><\/b> in 2019. He left his post as CEO last year.<\/p>\n<p>Before that, Staniforth was a principal at <b>L&amp;L Holding Company<\/b>, where he led the 1.2 million-square-foot<b> Terminal Warehouse<\/b> redevelopment project in Manhattan\u2019s Chelsea neighborhood.<\/p>\n<p>In his new position at MAG, Staniforth will lead development on <a href=\"https:\/\/commercialobserver.com\/2026\/04\/global-holdings-mag-partners-develop-149-unit-resi-tower-hudson-square\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><b>122 Varick Street<\/b><\/a>, the firm\u2019s 149-unit residential project being built in Manhattan\u2019s<b> Hudson Square <\/b>under New York City\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/commercialobserver.com\/2025\/01\/485x-tax-break-new-york-city\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">485x program<\/a> in partnership with <b><a href=\"https:\/\/commercialobserver.com\/company\/global-holdings\/\" title=\"Global Holdings\" class=\"company-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Global Holdings<\/a><\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA great development company is ultimately a collection of people who know how to execute, collaborate, and see around corners,\u201d Gilmartin said in a statement. \u201cAs our platform grows, we are intentionally building leadership depth across every part of the business. Aida has already helped shape the culture and development approach of MAG Partners in an extraordinary way, and Andrew joining her as co-head of development marks an exciting next chapter for the company.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 2020, MAG has a New York City residential portfolio that includes the 480-unit <b>Ruby<\/b> at <b>243 West 28th Street<\/b> in Chelsea, the 188-unit <b>Mabel<\/b> at <b>335 Eighth Avenue<\/b> also in Chelsea and the 194-unit<b> Anagram Turtle Bay<\/b> at <b>300 East 50th Street<\/b> in Midtown East.<\/p>\n<p>Late last month, MAG secured $148.7 million to refinance a construction loan for the Mabel, <a href=\"https:\/\/commercialobserver.com\/2026\/04\/mag-partners-refi-mabel-chelsea\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">as CO first reported<\/a>.
