{"id":807055,"date":"2026-05-19T08:35:13","date_gmt":"2026-05-19T08:35:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/807055\/"},"modified":"2026-05-19T08:35:13","modified_gmt":"2026-05-19T08:35:13","slug":"lauren-alaina-broke-down-crying-at-the-acm-awards-heres-why","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/807055\/","title":{"rendered":"Lauren Alaina Broke Down Crying at the ACM Awards\u2014Here&#8217;s Why"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lauren Alaina had an emotional moment at the ACMs. During the 61st ACM Awards, the singer broke down in tears while introducing Dan + Shay\u2019s performance of their song, \u201cSay So.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSometimes, lifting lives can mean saving lives,\u201d Alaina began. \u201cMay is Mental Health Awareness month, and an important time to say if you are secretly suffering, you are not alone.<\/p>\n<p>Alaina got choked up as she continued, stating, \u201cLike too many of you out there, I know what it\u2019s like to lose someone who struggled with their mental health.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo anybody out there tonight suffering, please know there is always\u2026\u201d Alaina said, before she looked down and broke down in tears. <\/p>\n<p>The singer composed herself and continued, stating, \u201cThere is always someone to listen and someone to help. Please, please reach out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alaina then spoke about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acmliftinglives.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">ACM Lifting Lives<\/a>, which is the Academy of Country Music\u2019s philanthropic partner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s dedicated to improving lives through the power of music and harnessing the strength of the country music industry to provide aide to those in need,\u201d Alaina explained.<\/p>\n<p>Lauren Alaina Praises Dan + Shay\u2019s New Song<\/p>\n<p>With that in mind, Alaina spoke about Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney\u2019s latest song, \u201cSay So,\u201d which was \u201cinspired by a heartbreaking loss in our country music family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBen Vaughn was not just a brilliant publishing executive,\u201d Alaina said of the late head of  Warner Chappell Music Publishing. \u201cHe was also the kindest, most supportive friend to Dan + Shay, to me, and to so many people in this room whose careers and lives he made so much better.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Alaina felt moved when she heard \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/americansongwriter.com\/dan-shay-deliver-live-debut-of-say-so-at-61st-annual-acm-awards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Say So<\/a>,\u201d so much so that she told Mooney, \u201cThis song is going to save lives.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>That was exactly what Dan + Shay intended when they penned the song in Vaughn\u2019s honor after he died by suicide.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we were talking about Ben, we were just like, \u2018Man, I wish we would\u2019ve known. I wish we could have reminded him that there\u2019s always somebody on the other line,\u2019\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/americansongwriter.com\/dan-shay-break-end-with-mental-health-themed-single-say-so\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Smyers told Variety<\/a> of the track. \u201cAt the time we wrote it, we were like, \u2018I don\u2019t know, man. It\u2019s different than what we usually do. It\u2019s not a love song.\u2019 But it kind of is, I guess.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSometimes people you think are doing great aren\u2019t doing so great.
