It also notes that other consumer VR devices offer a wide field of view, like the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/pimax.com\/products\/pimax-crystal-super\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/pimax.com\/products\/pimax-crystal-super\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Pimax Crystal Super<\/a> with its 140 FOV (as <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.roadtovr.com\/meta-researchers-reveal-compact-ultra-wide-field-of-view-vr-mr-headsets\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.roadtovr.com\/meta-researchers-reveal-compact-ultra-wide-field-of-view-vr-mr-headsets\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Road to VR<\/a> points out), but &#8220;come at the cost of larger form factors, limiting physical comfort and social acceptance.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This would be a major upgrade for many of the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tomsguide.com\/best-picks\/best-vr-headsets\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.tomsguide.com\/best-picks\/best-vr-headsets\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">best VR headsets<\/a>, but it remains to be seen if we&#8217;ll see the features of these prototypes in action anytime soon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"vanilla-image-block\" style=\"padding-top:56.25%;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/jSRXNcvkYPY2PTNUUeKFVa.png\" alt=\"XCloud on Meta Quest 3\"   loading=\"lazy\" data-original-mos=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/jSRXNcvkYPY2PTNUUeKFVa.png\" data-pin-media=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/jSRXNcvkYPY2PTNUUeKFVa.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p>(Image credit: Meta)<\/p>\n<p>While the Meta Quest 4 is rumored to be delayed in favor of <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tomsguide.com\/computing\/smart-glasses\/meta-celeste-smart-glasses-with-display-revealed-in-massive-leak-and-it-appears-to-be-launching-soon\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.tomsguide.com\/computing\/smart-glasses\/meta-celeste-smart-glasses-with-display-revealed-in-massive-leak-and-it-appears-to-be-launching-soon\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Meta Celeste&#8221; smart glasses<\/a>, the VR and MR headset prototypes may give us an inkling of what to expect in next-gen devices.<\/p>\n<p><a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tomsguide.com\/computing\/vr-ar\/meta-quest-4-and-quest-pro-successor-tipped-to-be-in-the-works-what-we-know\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.tomsguide.com\/computing\/vr-ar\/meta-quest-4-and-quest-pro-successor-tipped-to-be-in-the-works-what-we-know\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rumors of &#8220;Quest 4 VR goggles&#8221;<\/a> have been rumbling, as per a report from <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/newsletters\/2025-01-26\/apple-ar-plan-meta-samsung-glasses-are-coming-s25-edge-to-beat-iphone-air\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/newsletters\/2025-01-26\/apple-ar-plan-meta-samsung-glasses-are-coming-s25-edge-to-beat-iphone-air\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Bloomberg&#8217;s Mark Gurman<\/a>, and with these prototypes resembling more of a goggle-like design, this may be what Meta is heading towards.<\/p>\n<p>Plus, with this jump in horizontal FOV allowing for further immersion into VR and MR, this could be a key upgrade for the upcoming VR headset.
