Our <a href=\"https:\/\/sanantonio.culturemaptastemakers.com\/#judges\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">judging panel<\/a>, made up of 2025\u2019s winners and editorial staff, had the difficult task of narrowing down a deep bench of local culinary talent. The final nominees were then featured in a <a href=\"https:\/\/sanantonio.culturemap.com\/series\/san-antonio-tastemaker-awards-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">special editorial series<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Anticipation was high as guests sampled mouthwatering bites from this year\u2019s nominees:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ee-ul\">\n<li><strong>Asukar<\/strong>: An ode to Texas steak and potato and spring spice cake<\/li>\n<li><strong>Best Quality Daughter<\/strong>: Deviled tea eggs<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bilia Eatery<\/strong>: Cuban sandwiches<\/li>\n<li><strong>El Pastor es Mi Se\u00f1or<\/strong>: Tacos al pastor<\/li>\n<li><strong>Howdy Child<\/strong>: Elote pasta<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jots at Gunter Hotel<\/strong>: Southwest Texas gumbo<\/li>\n<li><strong>Otto&#8217;s Ice House<\/strong>: Pretzel bites and beer cheese<\/li>\n<li><strong>Panifico Bake Shop<\/strong>: Mini pan dulce, Carlota cake, and cuatro leches cake<\/li>\n<li><strong>South Barbecue<\/strong>: Brisket tacos<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Jerk Shack<\/strong>: Jerk pork belly tostadas<\/li>\n<li><strong>Wok Wey<\/strong>: Spicy garlic chicken<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"shortcode-media shortcode-media-rebelmouse-image\">        <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"38722\" data-rm-shortcode-id=\"3a9121107a19df43a7ac7d44c8834f3f\" data-rm-shortcode-name=\"rebelmouse-image\" class=\"rm-shortcode rm-lazyloadable-image \" lazy-loadable=\"true\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns=\" http:=\"\" data-runner-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/2026-san-antonio-tastemaker-awards.jpg\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1500\" alt=\"2026 San Antonio Tastemaker Awards\"\/>                        Otto&#8217;s Ice House&#8217;s pretzel bites and beer cheese were a big hit with the crowd.Photo by Guillermo Rosas<\/p>\n<p>The celebratory mood was heightened by this year\u2019s sponsors, including <strong>NXT LVL EVENT <\/strong>and <strong>Marine Foods Express<\/strong>. Mocktails, cocktails, refreshers, and brews from <strong>Maker&#8217;s Mark<\/strong>, <strong>Lone Star Beer<\/strong>, <strong>Seedlip<\/strong>, <strong>Ritual Zero Proof<\/strong>, <strong>S.Pellegrino Acqua Panna<\/strong>, <strong>Diplom\u00e1tico Rum<\/strong>, and <strong>Fords Gin<\/strong> kept spirits high.<\/p>\n<p>And a pair of nominees stepped in with pick-me-ups as the sun set:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ee-ul\">\n<li><strong>Estate Coffee<\/strong>: Espresso martini<\/li>\n<li><strong>Rose Hip Market<\/strong>: Cold brew and cinnamon vanilla lattes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Volunteers from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.culinariasa.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><strong>Culinaria<\/strong><\/a>, our nonprofit beneficiary, also helped make the evening a smashing success.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, KENS 5\u2019s <strong>Sarah Forgany<\/strong> took the stage to emcee the awards ceremony and hand out custom glass trophies to this year\u2019s winners, including Bar of the Year, Rising Star Chef of the Year, Restaurant of the Year, and Best Sandwich, this year\u2019s wildcard category.<\/p>\n<p>Revelers cheered as each winner took the stage, especially for this year\u2019s Best New Restaurant, a category voted on by CultureMap readers in a neck-and-neck bracket competition.
