{"id":808379,"date":"2026-05-19T21:52:17","date_gmt":"2026-05-19T21:52:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/808379\/"},"modified":"2026-05-19T21:52:17","modified_gmt":"2026-05-19T21:52:17","slug":"draft-rumors-wizards-jazz-mara-bucks-nets-kings-suns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/808379\/","title":{"rendered":"Draft Rumors: Wizards, Jazz, Mara, Bucks, Nets, Kings, Suns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/aj-dybantsa-1.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-05-19_cbb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">AJ Dybantsa<\/a><\/strong> has emerged as the \u201cpresumptive favorite\u201d to be selected No. 1 overall in next month\u2019s draft and is the first player off the board in the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/story\/_\/id\/48790115\/2026-nba-mock-draft-projecting-60-picks-post-combine-peterson-dybantsa-boozer\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">latest mock draft from ESPN, Jeremy Woo<\/a> reiterates that rival teams don\u2019t view the BYU forward as a lock to be taken by the <strong>Wizards<\/strong> with the top pick.<\/p>\n<p>As Woo writes, there\u2019s a consensus top four in the 2026 draft, with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/darryn-peterson-1.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-05-19_cbb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Darryn Peterson<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/cameron-boozer-3.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-05-19_cbb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Cameron Boozer<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/caleb-wilson-1.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-05-19_cbb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Caleb Wilson<\/a><\/strong> joining Dybantsa in that group. However, there isn\u2019t a consensus No. 1. Peterson goes No. 2 to the <strong>Jazz<\/strong> in Woo\u2019s mock, followed by Boozer at No. 3 (<strong>Grizzlies<\/strong>) and Wilson at No. 4 (<strong>Bulls<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>Team sources tell Woo that Peterson \u201ccame across as quiet but serious\u201d in interviews at last week\u2019s combine and \u201chandled that part of the process well.\u201d Peterson faced questions about the cramping issues that plagued his freshman season at Kansas, Woo writes, and NBA clubs are still waiting for his medicals.<\/p>\n<p>There was plenty of chatter about the Jazz <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hoopsrumors.com\/2026\/05\/jazz-have-touched-base-with-wizards-about-no-1-pick.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">potentially moving up to No. 1<\/a> at the combine, according to Woo, who says any talk on that front is speculative at this time. Like <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hoopsrumors.com\/2026\/05\/jazz-considered-unlikely-to-trade-up-from-no-2-to-no-1.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Sarah Todd of The Deseret News<\/a>, Woo suggests the Jazz are far more likely to stay at No. 2 and take the best player available rather than trade up.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some more rumors on the upcoming draft:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"longlis\">\n<li>Michigan center <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/aday-mara-2.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-05-19_cbb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Aday Mara<\/a><\/strong>, one of the stars of the NCAA tournament as the Wolverines won their first championship since 1989, is selected by the <strong>Hawks<\/strong> with the eighth pick in Woo\u2019s mock. Atlanta is expected to consider several guard prospects at that spot, but the Spanish big man is rising up draft boards and is considered a lock to be selected in the lottery, Woo reports.<\/li>\n<li>Milwaukee only controls the 10th pick in the 2026 draft, but rival teams tell Woo that the <strong>Bucks<\/strong> have been acting as though they\u2019ll end up with multiple selections. As Woo notes, ESPN\u2019s Shams Charania <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hoopsrumors.com\/2026\/05\/bucks-open-for-business-on-antetokounmpo-trade-offers.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">reported<\/a> last week that the Bucks are listening to trade offers for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/a\/antetgi01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-05-19_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Giannis Antetokounmpo<\/a><\/strong>, with <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hoopsrumors.com\/2026\/05\/bontemps-windhorsts-latest-pistons-giannis-kawhi-more.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">ESPN\u2019s Tim Bontemps<\/a> citing a growing belief around the league that the two-time MVP will be moved before the draft.<\/li>\n<li><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/nba\/draft\/mock\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Kevin O\u2019Connor of Yahoo Sports<\/a> has also updated his mock draft, and although he has Brooklyn taking Illinois guard <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/keaton-wagler-1.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-05-19_cbb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Keaton Wagler<\/a><\/strong> at No. 6, he hears from league sources that the <strong>Nets<\/strong> have been connected to Mara and Tennessee forward <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/nate-ament-1.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-05-19_cbb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Nate Ament<\/a><\/strong>. Woo has also heard the Nets aren\u2019t considered a lock to take a guard, and suggests Brooklyn will consider moving up or down in the draft. For what\u2019s worth, Woo and O\u2019Connor both have Ament going 10th overall to the <strong>Bucks<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Kings<\/strong>, who control the seventh pick, are \u201cwidely believed\u201d to be targeting Arkansas guard <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/darius-acuff-jr-1.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-05-19_cbb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Darius Acuff<\/a><\/strong>, according to ESPN and Yahoo Sports.
