The Supersuckers<\/p>\n

Loud, brash and in your face, long-running rock \u2018n\u2019 rollers The Supersuckers return to The Casbah on May 23. Formed in 1988, the group still includes bassist\/vocalist Edward \u201cEddie Spaghetti\u201d Daly, alongside more recent members, guitarist \u201cMetal\u201d Marty
Chandler and drummer Christopher \u201cChango\u201d von Streicher, but the band\u2019s high-octane
sound remains the same. Currently touring in support of their new album, \u201cLiquor,
Women, Drugs & Killing,\u201d anyone who enjoys their rock with a dose of adrenaline will
find this gig to be right up their alley. One man band Scott H. Biram opens the show.<\/p>\n

Cyril Neville<\/p>\n

Former Meters percussionist Cyril Neville holds court at The Holding Company on May 24. Neville is one of the architects of what we now consider the New Orleans sound and
at 75 years of age, is still a force to be reckoned with. While he hasn\u2019t released new
music in over a decade, Neville has doubled down on the live performances, with the
formidable frontman leading revue-styled concerts that include music from not only his
family\u2019s storied career, but also songs from other New Orleans musical institutions such
as Dr. John and Professor Longhair.<\/p>\n

Fun Lovin Criminals<\/p>\n

New York-based trio, Fun Lovin Criminals, returns with a new lineup for a show at
Winston\u2019s on May 26. Although the band only scored a U.S. turntable hit with their 1996
single \u201cScooby Snacks,\u201d they remain huge stars in the U.K., with 13 chart hits to
date. The trio still features original keyboardist and singer Brian \u2018Fast\u2019 Leiser, now joined
by drummer Frank Benbini and guitarist Naim Cortazzi, recently releasing the group\u2019s
seventh album, \u201cMatter of Time.\u201d Forty years since the release of their first album, Fun
Lovin Criminals still do a great job of mixing hiphop, rap, rock and irresistible beats.<\/p>\n

Sepultura<\/p>\n

After 40 years on the road, heavy metal fans have one last chance to see Brazilian
band Sepultura live when they stop in at The Observatory on May 26. The quartet just
released a new four-track EP, \u201cThe Cloud of Unknowing.\u201d It\u2019s a worthy addition to the
band\u2019s canon, but on this farewell road trip fans will be most excited to hear the band\u2019s
hard-hitting singles such as \u201cAttitude\u201d and \u201cMeans to an End.\u201d Making this concert
practically a mini-metal festival, the night includes openers Exodus, Biohazard and
Tribal Gaze.<\/p>\n

    The Sergio Mendes Band<\/p>\n

    Continuing the legacy of their late musical leader, The Sergio Mendes Band will make
    an appearance at the Belly Up Tavern on May 27. Brazilian Bossa nova icon Mendes
    passed away in 2024 after a six-decade career in music, leaving behind an incredible
    catalog of music beloved by fans of 1960\u2019s era pop, lounge music and Latin sounds.
    Led by Mendes\u2019 wife and band vocalist, Gracinha Leporace, this tribute show will feature
    the musicians who backed Mendes on tour, with fans at this evening\u2019s concert being
    treated to a setlist featuring Mendes biggest hits, including \u201cMas Que Nada,\u201d \u201cThe Look
    of Love\u201d and \u201cThe Fool On The Hill.\u201d<\/p>\n

    Mike Zito<\/p>\n

    St. Louis-based blues guitarist Mike Zito takes the stage at Humphrey\u2019s Backstage Live
    on May 27. Best known as a member of The Blood Brothers, who most recently
    performed locally backing comedian Bill Murray at The Sound this past October, Zito is
    adept at playing everything from blues to standards and in between. For this concert
    Zito will be in solo mode, featuring songs from the latest Blood Brothers album, \u201cHelp
    Yourself,\u201d highlighted by the soulful tune, \u201cThe Best I Can.\u201d Anyone who appreciates
    the blues will enjoy Zito\u2019s fiery guitar work.<\/p>\n

    Rebecca Jade<\/p>\n

    One of San Diego\u2019s greatest musical treasures, vocalist Rebecca Jade, performs at Wu
    Tsai QRT.yrd on May 27. A first call session singer, Jade has toured the world with Sheila E. and Dave Koz, also singing with Elton John and Peter Sprague along the way. Last month Jade won the category of \u201cBest R&B, Funk or Soul Song\u201d at the 35th annual San Diego Music Awards for her single \u201cNot Me No Way,\u201d just one highlight in a year that will see her on the road throughout the U.S. and England, before wrapping up 2026 with a Christmas tour alongside saxophonist Mindi Abair. If you have yet to hear Jade live, this free event is the perfect opportunity.<\/p>\n

    Peter Erskine<\/p>\n

    Where do you start with a musician like drummer Peter Erskine? Calling him legendary barely touches on the impact he\u2019s had in music. Appearing at the Athenaeum on May 27, Erskine has been a first call session musician for over five decades, starting off as a key member of iconic jazz group Weather Report before going on to a career that\u2019s seen him play on albums by the likes of Kate Bush, Steely Dan and Joni Mitchell. Currently on tour in support of his latest album, \u201cPeregrine,\u201d Erskine will be joined for this show by pianist Alan Pasqua and drummer Scott Colley for what is sure to be a masterclass in virtuoso jazz.<\/p>\n

    Peter Gabriel\u2019s \u2018So\u2019<\/p>\n

    Both jazz aficionados and classic rock fans alike will want to check out \u201cA Tribute to
    Peter Gabriel\u2019s So,\u201d taking place at The Jazz Lounge on May 27. For this show,
    acclaimed singer Leonard Patton, on a break from touring with guitar great Pat
    Metheny, will take lead vocals on songs from Gabriel\u2019s multi-platinum selling 1986 album,
    \u201cSo.\u201d Patton does a superb job of recasting these songs from one of the biggest albums
    of the era, whose singles such as \u201cSledgehammer,\u201d \u201cBig Time\u201d and \u201cIn Your Eyes,\u201d
    resonate almost as strongly on modern radio as when they first hit MTV back in the day.<\/p>\n

    Los Mirlos<\/p>\n

    Fans of Latin dance rhythms, specifically cumbia, won\u2019t want to miss an appearance
    from Peruvian combo Los Mirlos. Formed in 1972, the seven-piece group still features
    singer Jorge Rodr\u00edguez Gr\u00e1ndez and guitarist Danny Fardy Johnston, the latter\u2019s quirky
    guitar giving Los Mirlos their signature sound. Performing revue style, with Grandez as
    the band\u2019s de facto hype man, the group\u2019s show is high energy fun with grooves that will
    have the audience on their feet from start to finish. While Los Mirlos focus on dance rhythms, fans of psychedelia and surf music will also find much to enjoy.<\/p>\n
