1.\u00a0San Diego mosque shooters met online and left writings expressing hate, FBI says<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n The teenagers who killed three people\u00a0at a San Diego mosque\u00a0met online and shared a \u201cbroad hatred\u201d toward different religions and races, authorities said Tuesday.<\/p>\n Mark Remily of the FBI said during a news conference that authorities have uncovered writings by the suspects. Authorities declined to specify what ideologies or views were expressed by the shooters.<\/p>\n Authorities have also recovered 30 firearms and a crossbow from two residences searched in connection to the investigation.<\/p>\n Remily said authorities are still trying to uncover whether the shooters had broader plans.<\/p>\n Hours before Monday’s attack police were racing to find the two teenagers who would ultimately be deemed responsible.<\/p>\n The search began after the mother of one teen reported that her son was suicidal and had run away, according to Police Chief Scott Wahl, who said weapons and her vehicle were missing from the family’s home.<\/p>\n 2.\u00a0Bain Fire in Jurupa Valley scorches 600 acres, causes injuries<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n A brush fire that erupted Tuesday in the Santa Ana River bottom in Jurupa Valley charred an estimated 600 acres and threatened dozens of homes in Riverside, leaving four people injured and prompting mandatory evacuations.<\/p>\n The Bain Fire is 0% contained. Air and ground resources continue to work on containment and suppression efforts.<\/p>\n The blaze was reported at 11:22 a.m. Tuesday on the north side of the dry channel, in the area of Bain Street and Limonite Avenue, just north of the Hidden Valley Nature Center, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.<\/p>\n The agency said numerous engine and hand crews from the county, Riverside Fire Department and surrounding agencies responding to a mutual aid request were sent to the location, encountering wind-driven flames moving at a moderate rate through thick brush.<\/p>\n 3.\u00a0More whooping cough cases reported in Pasadena, this time at a middle school<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n The Pasadena Public Health Department announced Tuesday that it is investigating an outbreak of whooping cough involving three confirmed cases at Blair Middle School.<\/p>\n The department is working with the Pasadena Unified School District and others to monitor for any additional infections and to guide response efforts, according to a statement from the Pasadena city manager’s office.<\/p>\n Health officials have notified close contacts and provided instructions for testing, treatment when appropriate, and staying home if symptoms develop, officials said.<\/p>\n A similar statement was issued by the city health department on April 29 after four people came down with pertussis, the technical name of whooping cough, at Don Benito Fundamental School.<\/p>\n Around the Nation<\/p>\n 1.
