Mindy Kaling\u2019s decision to lose weight<\/a> was motivated by her children.<\/p>\n

The \u201cOffice\u201d alum \u2014 who is mom to daughter Katherine<\/a>, 8, son Spencer<\/a>, 5, and daughter Anne<\/a>, 2 \u2014 explained in a Bustle interview<\/a>, published Tuesday, that she wants to \u201clive at least 20 more years\u201d for her kids.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo I wake up every day being like, \u2018I look amazing and I\u2019m so gorgeous?\u2019 No, unsurprisingly, but I truly feel so healthy,\u201d she told the outlet.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I was younger, I would want to lose weight because of vanity reasons,\u201d Kaling, 46, shared. \u201cNow I want to lose weight or have lost weight because I want to stave off things like diabetes.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had it on both sides of my family and trying to avoid those kinds of things will, I think, help longevity for me,\u201d she continued. \u201cAnd that\u2019s my goal.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cInside Out\u201d voice actress noted that she understands why some fans may be frustrated with her more than 40-pound weight loss.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have an idea of what they were like when you grew attached to them, and it made them endear themselves to you,\u201d Kaling added.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, it\u2019s never a joy to be scrutinized, but also I truly understand it, as someone who consumes pop culture.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Kaling has been\u00a0hit with speculation<\/a>\u00a0that she turned to a GLP-1 weight loss drug<\/a> to trim her figure, she claims she did so by\u00a0eating smaller portions<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI eat what I like to eat. If I do any kind of restrictive diet, it never really works for me. I just eat less of it,\u201d she\u00a0shared with Entertainment Tonight\u00a0in April 2022.<\/p>\n
