TO A FIVE-FOOT GATOR SPOTTED IN THE BRANCH CREEK NEIGHBORHOOD.”If you do not have an attorney, we will appoint one for you””At first it was kind of surreal, you are not expecting to see an alligator crossing the street, chickens maybe, but not an alligator.”Officers and wildlife crews safely captured the alligator before anyone was hurt.Even though no injuries were reported, Assistant Police Chief Derrick Jordan said the encounter is a reminder to stay alert and keep yards maintained.”When you have an abundance of rain, it can always move wildlife to different areas, so just always be precautious about that.” said Derrick Jordan, Assistant Police Chief of Byram Police Department. “Make sure you manicure your lawns and ensure that you can see those things when they are in the area.”Sergeant Terris Thomas said as temperatures rise, alligators and other wildlife may become more active.
