Visakhapatnam: <\/b>Andhra University has become one of the few institutions in India to offer undergraduate quantum computing education, with its Academic Senate approving a new BTech Quantum Computing course that will admit its first batch of 30 students this academic year.<\/p>\n
The program, administered by the Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) department within the College of Engineering, represents a step toward cutting-edge technology education in Andhra Pradesh. Admissions to the four-year degree program will be conducted through the Andhra Pradesh State Engineering Test (AP SET).
The curriculum will leverage expertise from across the university, with faculty from the Computer Science, Engineering Physics, Mathematics, Instrumentation, and ECE departments contributing to the programme.<\/p>\n
The university will also resume its MTech programs in Atmospheric Science and Oceanic Science through the Department of Meteorology and Oceanography, courses that had been previously discontinued. Additionally, the College of Engineering received permission to offer dual degree programs across multiple departments.<\/p>\n
In a modernisation move, all postgraduate courses offered through Andhra University’s Distance Education Centre will transition from annual to semester-based examinations, aligning with contemporary academic practices.<\/p>\n
The senate also approved a one-year PG Diploma in Aquaculture through the Department of Marine Living Resources and endorsed proposals for improved internship and project management across various departments in the College of Science.<\/p>\n
In his address, vice-chancellor Rajasekhar outlined the university’s commitment to international standards and detailed ongoing programs focused on student welfare and alumni engagement.
