{"id":812274,"date":"2026-05-21T13:27:18","date_gmt":"2026-05-21T13:27:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/812274\/"},"modified":"2026-05-21T13:27:18","modified_gmt":"2026-05-21T13:27:18","slug":"brad-pitt-got-scolded-by-quentin-tarantino-on-once-upon-a-time-in-hollywood-set","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/812274\/","title":{"rendered":"Brad Pitt got scolded by Quentin Tarantino on &#8216;Once Upon a Time in Hollywood&#8217; set"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Quentin Tarantino allegedly warned Brad Pitt he\u2019d \u201cbe dead in this business\u201d in a major scolding on the set of \u201cOnce Upon a Time in Hollywood\u201d in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Pitt\u2019s co-star Bruce Dern <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/bruce-dern-recalls-quentin-tarantino-once-scolding-brad-pitt-on-set-exclusive-11980067\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">told People<\/a>, in an interview published Thursday, the incident occurred shooting a scene when Pitt\u2019s character, Cliff Booth, checks on Dern\u2019s character, George Spahn, who is blind.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen Brad Pitt wakes me up in\u00a0\u2018Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,\u2019 I\u2019m in the bed and I get up and I\u2019m a little groggy and stuff and I just say, \u2018I\u2019m not really sure what\u2019s going on,&#8217;\u201d the 89-year-old recalled.<\/p>\n<p>Bruce Dern claimed Brad Pitt got a major scolding from director Quentin Tarantino on the set of \u201cOnce Upon a Time in Hollywood\u201d (Pitt and Dern are pictured above in the 2019 film) Sony Pictures<\/p>\n<p>Dern (seen above in a portrait from Cannes Film Festival 2026) said when he improvised a line during filming, Pitt cut the camera, which angered Tarantino. AP Photo\/Scott A Garfitt<\/p>\n<p>Since he improvised that line, Pitt \u201ccut the camera\u201d \u2014 which Dern said angered Tarantino.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe look on Quentin\u2019s face \u2014 I mean, he was insanely grave \u2014 and he said, \u2018Brad, what did you just do?&#8217;\u201d Dern remembered.<\/p>\n<p>The famous director, 63, allegedly told Pitt, \u201cNever again in your life will you ever cut a camera or you\u2019ll be dead in this business. That\u2019s my domain. WireImage<\/p>\n<p>When they shot the scene again, all Pitt said to Tarantino was, \u201cWell, that wasn\u2019t in the script what he said,\u201d according to Dern.<\/p>\n<p>For the scene that made the final edit, Dern improvised a different line: \u201cI don\u2019t know who you are, but you touched me today. You came to visit me, now I gotta go back to sleep.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cGreat Gatsby\u201d actor explained to the outlet that he used improv because Pitt and co-star Leonardo DiCaprio had already told him, \u201cYou\u2019re going to be in my movie no matter what.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dern explained that he improvised the line because Pitt and co-star Leo DiCaprio promised that he\u2019d be in the movie (Tarantino, Pitt and  Elise Nygaard Olson are seen above on the set of the film). \u00a9Columbia Pictures\/courtesy Everett Co \/ Everett Collection<\/p>\n<p>Pitt (seen above shooting a scene for the film) plays Hollywood suntman Cliff Booth in the movie. \u00a9Columbia Pictures\/courtesy Everett Co \/ Everett Collection<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey did that, and that touched me,\u201d Dern added.<\/p>\n<p>A source told Page Six, \u201cQuentin is one of Brad\u2019s favorite directors. They have great chemistry and respect for one another.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Page Six has reached out to reps for Pitt and Tarantino for comment.<\/p>\n<p>In \u201cOnce Upon a Time in Hollywood,\u201d Pitt plays the stuntman for Hollywood actor Rick Dalton (DiCaprio), and the role earned him the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>In his acceptance speech, the \u201cF1\u201d actor praised Tarantino for being \u201coriginal\u201d and \u201cone of a kind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pitt (pictured above with Tarantino in 2009) won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 2020 for his role in the film.
