New Jersey Devils<\/a> defenseman Simon Nemec is the subject of trade rumors once again.<\/p>\n

Last time, it was because the former general manager, Tom Fitzgerald<\/a>, was dangling him at the 2026 NHL Trade Deadline in exchange for a top-six forward.<\/p>\n

However, this time, a report from overseas<\/a> suggests Nemec has requested to be traded. <\/p>\n

New Jersey Hockey Now has reached out to Nemec\u2019s agent for comment. None have been returned at this time.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not the first time this has come up. In February of last year, a bad translation resulted in rumors Nemec wanted out of New Jersey.<\/p>\n

The Slovak defenseman clarified those comments to New Jersey Hockey Now.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, I mean, first thing it was a bad translation,\u201d Nemec explained to NJHN<\/a> in February 2025. \u201cI was unhappy with myself because I was expecting more from myself. It\u2019s too early [for something like that]. I mean, everything\u2019s fine. I think just a bad translation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, the rumor about Nemec explains he\u2019s requested to be moved in a trade. Part of the report indicates that new Devils GM Sunny Mehta<\/a> has not reached out to Nemec or his agent, Craig Oster, at all.<\/p>\n

However, a source tells New Jersey Hockey Now that Mehta has, in fact, been in contact with the player and the agent. Therefore, that part of the report is unfounded.<\/p>\n

Nemec just wrapped up a breakout season on the scoresheet, scoring 11 goals and 26 points in 68 games this season. He showed growth on offense and in transition, while displaying a need for defensive development. <\/p>\n

At the conclusion of the season, Nemec explained during exit interviews, \u201cI\u2019d love to sign here,\u201d when asked about his future in New Jersey. <\/p>\n

New Jersey Hockey Now has requested comment from the Devils organization regarding the rumor, but have no received an official response at this time.<\/p>\n
