Richard Jarrett was headed back to the Black Mountain Precinct in north Phoenix when he received a call about a crash in which a motorcyclist had been pinned under a car.<\/p>\n<p>Jarrett immediately went to the scene and began to help by keeping the man awake and alert.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI kind of assessed the scene, tried to help him, calm him down,\u201d Jarrett said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=PI7-DVjLWWE\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">YouTube video<\/a> posted by the department on Monday. \u201cWe\u2019re making eye contact and I\u2019m looking at him, trying to be like, \u2018I\u2019m here for you.\u2019 But there\u2019s just truly nothing I can do in that moment to kind of stop all the pain.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>How was the motorcyclist who was trapped under a car saved?<\/p>\n<p>Soon after Jarrett reached the scene, Phoenix firefighters arrived. Jarrett worked with the firefighters to lift the car and free the motorcyclist.<\/p>\n<p>The motorcyclist is alive and recovering from his injuries, Phoenix police said.<\/p>\n<p>Jarrett added that his actions were just part of his duties serving the Phoenix community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen people call and it\u2019s an emergency, it\u2019s our duty to kind of just respond as fast as possible and be there for people,\u201d Jarrett said.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"twitter-follow-button\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/J_Vinton52\" data-show-count=\"false\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Follow @J_Vinton52<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We want to hear from you.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px;\">Have a story idea or tip?
