The New York Young Republican Club<\/a> is pushing to get socialist Zohran Mamdani <\/a>disqualified from the mayoral election \u2014 accusing the Democratic candidate of providing \u201caid and comfort\u201d to enemies of the US, The Post has learned.<\/p>\n

The 15-page\u00a0NYYRC memo already has two potential supporters in Washington DC, New York Rep. Claudia Tenney <\/a>and Indiana Rep. Marlin Stutzman,<\/a> both Republicans, who would have to put the motion up for a vote.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no question that Mamdani thus is affirmatively aiding and comforting known terrorists and enemies in the United States, requiring his disqualification under the Disqualification Clause,\u201d the memo reads.\u00a0<\/p>\n

That rarely-used 14th Amendment<\/a> provision was originally written to prevent Confederates from re-entering public office after the Civil War. It allows Congress to remove anyone who \u201cengaged in insurrection or rebellion\u201d\u00a0or has \u201cgiven aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.\u201d<\/p>\n

The NYYRC alleges that Mamdani\u2019s has provided \u201caid and comfort\u201d to enemies of the US by supporting \u201cpro-Hamas\u201d groups like the anti-Israel group Within Our Lifetime.<\/p>\n

It also claims that the Queens state Assemblyman is supporting gangs like MS-13 <\/a>through his calls for non-cooperation with ICE<\/a> and through his support of \u201cenemy ideologies,\u201d like Marxism and Communism.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The memo argues there is grounds to use the clause against the lefty mayoral frontrunner \u2014 and to pull him from the November general election ballot \u2014 due to his alleged support for those organizations and policies.<\/p>\n

Memo author and recording secretary for the club, Phil J. Leggio, said that it was drafted after Tennessee Rep. Andy Ogles\u2019 controversial calls for the US Attorney General\u2019s Office to denaturalize and deport Mamdani as another attempt to neuter his surging candidacy.<\/p>\n

He pointed to the oath Mamdani took when he was sworn in as a state lawmaker, calling it \u201ca binding permission and obligation to uphold the principles and laws therein.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAffirmatively taking steps to defend and protect America\u2019s enemies and known terrorist organizations within the state is an unequivocal break of that oath,\u201d Leggio said.<\/p>\n

He also noted that he would like to see similar efforts against other leaders of sanctuary cities<\/a> who defy President Trump\u2019s anti-immigration policies.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s time that such elected officials be held accountable for their actions,\u201d Leggio said.<\/p>\n

The longshot push would require a two-thirds vote in both the US House of Representatives and the Senate to pass. If passed, the conviction could still be challenged up to the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur office is closely reviewing the legal memo produced by NYYRC demanding the disqualification of Mamdani as Mayor,\u201d Tenney, who represents New York\u2019s 22nd Congressional District upstate, said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis calls to stand in the way of federal law enforcement, and to install a socialist economic system in New York City, fly in the face of the oath he took when becoming a New York State Assemblyman,\u201d Stutzman added.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy violating that oath, he has disqualified himself from running under the 14th Amendment. Zohran must be removed from the ballot immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump added cartels and gangs like MS-13 to the Foreign Terrorist Organization list earlier this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The president has also slammed Mamdani as \u201c100% Communist\u201d in social media posts.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

Mamdani has repeatedly denied being a \u201ccommunist\u201d and self-identifies as a socialist publicly.<\/p>\n
