\u201cTonight Show\u201d host Jimmy Fallon will cross the street from his NBC headquarters to offer support for CBS rival Stephen Colbert on Monday, The Post has learned. <\/p>\n
Fallon and a handful of other top comedians are expected to make a cameo at the Ed Sullivan Theater in Manhattan to speak out against the cancellation of Colbert\u2019s top-rated late-night talk show<\/a>, sources said.<\/p>\n The names of the other comedians could not be immediately learned.<\/p>\n A group of top comedians are expected to rally around Stephen Colbert, after the shocking news of the cancellation of \u201cThe Late Show\u201d The Late Show with Stephen Colbert<\/p>\n Sources speculated that Jimmy Kimmel \u2014 who is on vacation from taping episodes of ABC\u2019s \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d \u2014 would be among Colbert\u2019s famous friends to appear.<\/p>\n Kimmel lashed out at CBS<\/a>, after learning of the cancellation Thursday, writing on Instagram: \u201cLove you, Stephen. F\u2014k you and all your Sheldons, CBS.\u201d<\/p>\n John Oliver, host of HBO\u2019s \u201cLast Week Tonight,\u201d also spoke out <\/a>against CBS\u2019 decision to can Colbert.<\/p>\n \u201cLate-night shows mean a lot to me, not just because I work in them, because even growing up in England, I would watch (David) Letterman\u2019s show, which of course was Stephen\u2019s show, and think about what a glamorous world that was,\u201d Oliver told the Associated Press on Sunday.<\/p>\n \u201cSo it\u2019s very, very, very sad news. I look forward to seeing what [Colbert is] gonna do next because that man will not stop.\u201d<\/p>\n Jimmy Fallon, the host of NBC\u2019s \u201cThe Tonight Show\u201d is expected to appear on Colbert\u2019s program, along with other top comedians and celebrity friends. I\u2019m going to miss having him on TV every night but I\u2019m excited he can no longer use the excuse that he\u2019s \u2018too busy to hang out\u2019 with me.\u201d<\/p>\n Reps for Fallon, Kimmel, Oliver and Meyers did not respond to requests for comment. <\/p>\n Reps for CBS and Colbert did not comment.<\/p>\n CBS said that the cancellation of Colbert\u2019s show was purely financial.<\/p>\n Colbert, 61, got the ax three days after he took a shot at his bosses at the Tiffany Network over its $16 million settlement with\u00a0Donald Trump<\/a>\u00a0over a controversial \u201c60 Minutes\u201d interview with\u00a0Kamala Harris<\/a>.<\/p>\n The settlement comes\u00a0as the network\u2019s parent Paramount negotiates with the Trump administration regulatory approval for its $8\u2009billion sale to independent studio Skydance.<\/p>\n The Post reported that \u201cThe Late Show\u201d clocked a staggering $40 million annual loss, and according to Puck, it had a budget of more than $100 million a season.
