From the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York to \u2026 community access TV in Michigan?<\/p>\n

One night after Stephen Colbert recorded his final episode<\/a> of \u201cThe Late Show\u201d on CBS, he made a surprise appearance hosting the \u201cOnly in Monroe\u201d community access show broadcast in southeast Michigan along the shores of Lake Erie.<\/p>\n

Michigan native Jack White, who grew up in Detroit about 40 miles northeast of Monroe, joined Colbert as his \u201cvolunteer music director.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLooking forward to hearing some of your music, time permitting,\u201d Colbert joked with White, as laughter could be heard from a handful of people off camera.<\/p>\n

Colbert interviewed actor Jeff Daniels during the hourlong broadcast that leaned heavily into Michigan-centric jokes. Actor Steve Buscemi appeared in a recorded bit joking about Buscemi\u2019s Pizza in Monroe.<\/p>\n

Rapper Eminem, who was raised in Detroit, appeared on tape as the \u201cfire marshal\u201d who approves setting fire to remnants of the set that Colbert, White and Daniels destroyed at the end of the show.<\/p>\n

Colbert also spoke via FaceTime with comedian Byron Allen, who will be hosting \u201cComics Unleashed\u201d that is replacing Colbert\u2019s canceled \u201cLate Show.\u201d<\/p>\n

The community access program\u2019s normal hosts, Michelle Baumann and former Miss America Kaye Lani Rae Rafko Wilson, sucked helium from balloons with Colbert while discussing Baumann\u2019s battle with cancer. A warning on the screen said, \u201cFormer professional TV host, do not try this at home.\u201d<\/p>\n

It marked the second time Colbert has hosted \u201cOnly in Monroe.\u201d As he said during the surprise Friday broadcast, he previously hosted an episode in the summer of 2015 just before taking over \u201cLate Night\u201d from David Letterman.<\/p>\n

It was not clear where or when Colbert recorded the latest episode, which aired exactly 24 hours after his final \u201cLate Night\u201d show.
