LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) \u2014 The Louisville Kings started the season 0-3. They will enter the final week with a winning record, a three-game winning streak and a playoff spot to protect.<\/p>\n
Chandler Rogers threw for 266 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another, Ian Wheeler rushed for 93 yards and a score, and Louisville beat the Dallas Renegades 37-23 Sunday at Lynn Family Stadium in its regular-season home finale.<\/p>\n
The Kings piled up 470 total yards, including 205 on the ground, and outscored Dallas 21-6 after briefly falling behind early in the fourth quarter. Tanner Brown made all three of his field-goal attempts \u2014 45, 35 and 54 yards \u2014 and finished with 24 made field goals on the season, a new UFL single-season record.<\/p>\n
“The season was on the line,” Kings coach Chris Redman said. “These guys stepped up. \u2026 I’m just really proud of how they finished the game.”<\/p>\n
Louisville led 16-10 entering the fourth before Dallas took a 17-16 lead on Austin Reed’s 12-yard touchdown pass to Curtis Hodges. The Kings answered almost immediately. Rogers hit Isaiah Winstead for a 40-yard touchdown, then found James Robinson for a two-point conversion to make it 24-17.<\/p>\n
Eric Garror, who had intercepted Reed four times in the teams’ first meeting, picked him off again on the next Dallas possession. Louisville took control from there. Wheeler scored from a yard out with 7:52 left, and Rogers later hit Tarik Black for a 22-yard touchdown to put the game away.<\/p>\n
The only real concern for Louisville was penalties. The Kings were flagged 13 times, a number Redman said must be cleaned up before next week’s regular-season finale at Columbus.<\/p>\n
“Those are things that we can control,” Redman said. “If we can handle the things that we can control, I think we’ve got a pretty good chance at finishing the season strong.”<\/p>\n
Louisville improved to 5-4 and moved above .500 for the first time in franchise history. Dallas fell to 3-6 with its sixth straight loss. Attendance was 10,378.<\/p>\n
