Blessed be thy game.

Article continues below this ad

Beautiful Ball Movement

The Spurs had 25 assists on 35 field goals, none of them more beautifully orchestrated than this Julian Champagnie layup, which began with all five Spurs on the floor touching the ball at least once. When you have ball movement this beautiful, good things are bound to happen.

Feed the Frenchman

Wemby was more than pumped after Devin Vassell blocked Thunder guard Jared McCain at the rim and then pushed the ball coast-to-coast, finishing with a lob to him for a one-handed alley-oop. When the French phenom gets hungry, somebody has to feed him.

Article continues below this ad

Lock-Down Defense

The Spurs threw a series of defenders at Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and the two-time MVP was held to just 19 points on the night. Stephon Castle stayed disciplined when matched up with Shai one-on-one and avoided biting on his pump fakes. According to ESPN Insights, Game 4 marked the first time since April 10, 2022, that OKC had been held under 90 points in a game.

Nothing but Net

At halftime, Wemby had 22 points, the highest-scoring first half of his playoff career. It would’ve been 19, but with only five seconds before the break, Wemby called for the ball, took it to midcourt and swished a 42-footer to put the Spurs up by 12. Any momentum the Thunder had at that point vaporized on the spot.

Article continues below this ad

Pure Determination

There were plenty of memorable Area 51 connections in Game 4, including this lob that found Wemby rolling to the rim and finishing over both Isaiah Hartenstein and Lou Dort. When Wemby gets downhill with that determined look in his eyes, it doesn’t matter who is standing in his way.

Steal-to-Slam Sequence

We saw Castle’s sneaky side when he picked Hartenstein’s pocket in the third quarter and took it full court before passing it to a trailing Wemby. It only took the Alien two colossal strides from the free throw line to slam it home. If there’s a way to stop a fast break that ends like that, the Thunder hasn’t figured it out.

Article continues below this ad

Vassell Sparks Break

In the third quarter, Vassell jumped into the passing lane and came away with a steal off Chet Holmgren, sparking a Spurs fast break. Dylan Harper pushed the pace and delivered a precise pass to Castle, who finished the alley-oop in stride to stretch the Spurs’ lead and force a Thunder timeout.

Dropping Dimes

Wemby was all smiles after a fourth-quarter fast break that ended with Castle dropping a dime for him, where he finished with an emphatic dunk that brought the house down. These Castle-to-Wemby moments are starting to pile up – and each one is more impressive than the last.

Article continues below this ad

Rookie Rising

In the fourth quarter, Harper showed exactly why he’s a playmaker, splitting the defense and rising to the rim for a two-handed slam that easily could’ve been an and-1. It feels like there’s plenty of magic left in these playoffs for our rookie guard.

Article continues below this ad

Shai’s Shenanigans

The “flopper” chants echoing loudly from inside the Frost Bank Center reflect just how much Shai falls. The Spurs, however, managed to stay disciplined against him and limit his trips to the foul line. Still, there was one extra ridiculous play where Shai dropped to the floor after De’Aaron Fox sidestepped him to avoid contact. Luckily, a Spurs fan sitting courtside brought him a mini version of an Oscar for his performance.
