The project will add 2.1 miles to the route and add a new station called Near Southside\/Medical District.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update:<\/strong> Funding for the project has been secured, and a groundbreaking for the station is planned later this year.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Timeline:<\/strong> service starting late 2029<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cost:<\/strong> $167 million<\/li>\n<li><strong>Funding source:<\/strong> U.S. Department of Transportation, Trinity Metro, North Central Texas Council of Governments<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>3. <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/dallas-fort-worth\/mckinney\/transportation\/2026\/05\/12\/check-out-updates-on-5-planned-transportation-infrastructure-projects-in-mckinney\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SH 5 Utility Relocations<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Project:<\/strong> Construction work will relocate city utilities, including water and wastewater lines, in advance of the planned reconstruction and widening of SH 5 by the Texas Department of Transportation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update:<\/strong> Design work is 90% complete, and the project is expected to go to bid later this year.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Timeline:<\/strong> late 2026-late 2028<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cost:<\/strong> $27.7 million<\/li>\n<li><strong>Funding source:<\/strong> city of McKinney, TxDOT reimbursement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ongoing projects<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>4. <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/dallas-fort-worth\/grapevine-colleyville-southlake\/transportation\/2026\/05\/20\/dallas-fort-worth-international-airport-board-approves-repairs-on-pedestrian-bridge-3-other-projects\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Terminal F construction<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Project:<\/strong> Dallas Fort Worth International Airport will build Terminal F, a new terminal with international flight processing capacity operated solely by American Airlines.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update:<\/strong> The DFW International Airport board of directors approved a $50 million reimbursement agreement with American Airlines for furniture, fixtures, equipment and design work for Phases 1 and 1A.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Timeline:<\/strong> first phase operational by 2027<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cost:<\/strong> $4 billion<\/li>\n<li><strong>Funding source:<\/strong> DFW International Airport, American Airlines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>5. <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/dallas-fort-worth\/plano\/transportation\/2026\/04\/30\/see-7-ongoing-upcoming-transportation-projects-in-plano\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Custer Road concrete repair<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Project:<\/strong> Crews are removing and rehabilitating existing reinforced arterial concrete and providing sidewalk repairs on and near Custer Road from SH121 to Hedgecoxe Road.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update:<\/strong> One lane on each side of Custer Road from SH 121 to Ridgeview Drive is closed 24\/7, with an additional lane on each side closed daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Timeline:<\/strong> March 2026-May 2027<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cost:<\/strong> $3 million<\/li>\n<li><strong>Funding source:<\/strong> city of Plano<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Stay informed on five transportation projects around Dallas-Fort Worth.
