{"id":82273,"date":"2025-07-22T04:39:12","date_gmt":"2025-07-22T04:39:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/82273\/"},"modified":"2025-07-22T04:39:12","modified_gmt":"2025-07-22T04:39:12","slug":"chief-of-staff-champions-national-fitness-policy-to-promote-healthy-living","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/82273\/","title":{"rendered":"Chief of Staff champions national fitness policy to promote healthy living"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/CHIEF_OF_STAFF.jpg\" alt=\"\u2022  Julius Debrah (arrowed), Chief of Staff, participanting in the health walk with the enthusiastic supporters\" class=\"caption lazyload\" title=\"\u2022  Julius Debrah (arrowed), Chief of Staff, participanting in the health walk with the enthusiastic supporters\" width=\"599\" height=\"381\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\t\t\t\t\t\u2022  Julius Debrah (arrowed), Chief of Staff, participanting in the health walk with the enthusiastic supporters<\/p>\n<p>\t\tFeatured<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\tPrince Dornu-Leiku\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\tSports News\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\tJul &#8211; 21 &#8211; 2025 , 16:02\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t2 minutes read\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Julius Debrah, has called for the establishment of a national fitness policy that would make regular physical exercise mandatory across all public institutions, aimed at promoting a healthier, more productive Ghana.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Speaking to journalists last Saturday after leading a spirited health walk dubbed &#8220;A Walk With Julius&#8221; around his Trasacco Valley residence in Accra, Mr Debrah stressed that a nation&#8217;s economic growth depends largely on the physical well-being of its people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe only way we can achieve sustainable development and economic transformation is if our people are strong, fit, and healthy,\u201d he stated. \u201cPlans are far advanced to formalise this initiative as a national policy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The early morning walk brought together a host of high-profile personalities, including government officials and media figures such as Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD) and Fred Nuamah, who joined Mr Debrah in what is fast gaining attention as a fitness movement.<\/p>\n<p>Recounting a conversation with President John Dramani Mahama, Mr Debrah revealed the idea was inspired by international examples. \u201cI was speaking with President Mahama, and he pointed out that Taiwan once implemented a national policy requiring citizens to exercise each morning before work.<\/p>\n<p>It drastically improved public health and saved the country a lot of money,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>Having maintained a consistent walking routine for over three decades, Mr Debrah is a firm believer in its benefits. \u201cWalking is one of the best forms of exercise \u2014 it burns calories, releases stress, and clears the mind.<\/p>\n<p>A healthy nation is a wealthy nation, and this is part of President Mahama\u2019s broader vision to reset and strengthen the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Beyond fitness, the Chief of Staff also touched on the national football agenda, declaring that Ghana\u2019s quest to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup remains a top priority for the President.<\/p>\n<p>He disclosed that President Mahama has tasked the Ministry of Youth and Sports to give the Black Stars the fullest support needed to reach the global stage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSports is a powerful tool. It builds unity, national pride, and inspires the youth.
