{"id":822789,"date":"2026-05-26T07:31:17","date_gmt":"2026-05-26T07:31:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/822789\/"},"modified":"2026-05-26T07:31:17","modified_gmt":"2026-05-26T07:31:17","slug":"target-pushes-deeper-ai-adoption-reviews-usage-based-pricing-india-head-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/822789\/","title":{"rendered":"Target pushes deeper AI adoption, reviews usage\u2011based pricing, India head says"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">By Haripriya Suresh and Aishwarya Venugopal<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">BENGALURU, May 25 (Reuters) &#8211; Target is moving from &#8220;using AI to running on AI,&#8221; but a shift in \u200cthe pricing of the technology by its providers is prompting the U.S. \u200cretailer to reassess the way it is deployed, its India head told Reuters on Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">&#8220;It&#8217;s about \u200bthe intentional use and integration of AI rather than deploying it everywhere&#8230;,&#8221; Target India President Andrea Zimmerman said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">She said there are &#8220;significant investments&#8221; being made in ensuring that teams have the right tools for their jobs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">AI firms such as Anthropic and \u200c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/organizations\/openai\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:OpenAI;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;OpenAI&quot;}\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">OpenAI<\/a> are increasingly shifting to \u2060token-based pricing that charges customers based on usage, instead of a subscription-based service, reflecting a broader reset in AI economics and \u2060raising costs for enterprises.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">&#8220;It is forcing us to re-evaluate our strategy,&#8221; Zimmerman said. Discussions around AI pricing are &#8220;at the highest level in both our architecture forums as \u200bwell as \u200bin our senior leadership forums within technology,&#8221; \u200bshe told the Reuters summit \u200cin Bengaluru.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Target&#8217;s global center in India has verticals such as merchandising, digital, stores and supply chain, employing about 5,600 people.
