A boy who was shot to death in East Los Angeles was positively identified Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The victim was 17-year-old Joshua Aila, the Los Angeles County medical examiner\u2019s office reported Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The shooting occurred at about 1:15 a.m. Saturday in the area of Sixth Street and Fraser Avenue, near James A. Garfield High School, the Los Angeles County Sheriff\u2019s Department reported.<\/p>\n
Deputies dispatched to the scene regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call located the child suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics rushed the boy to a hospital, where he died, authorities said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThrough investigation, homicide investigators learned that the suspect entered a dark-colored SUV and fled the scene eastbound on Sixth Street and out of view,\u201d according to the LASD. \u201cIt is unknown if it\u2019s (the shooting) gang-related.\u201d<\/p>\n
