challenges and deliver for founder and CEO Elon Musk.<a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/news\/china\/science\/article\/3354681\/china-merges-lunar-programmes-race-moon-us-heats-after-latest-spacex-launch?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Starship\u2019s latest flight<\/a> on Friday \u2013 weeks before the company\u2019s expected initial public offering (IPO) \u2013 was described as \u201cmostly successful\u201d by the company after engine failures occurred in both the first and second stages.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">After the first stage Super Heavy Booster entered the Gulf of Mexico at high speed, Starship itself \u201cbarely made it\u201d to its designated return area in the Indian Ocean, according to observers posting on Chinese social media.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">One space commenter said the test flight\u2019s results showed the key issue was the reliability of Starship\u2019s upgraded Raptor 3 engines, which have had a redesign to give them higher thrust and lighter weight.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cA fine scientific experiment, but not a perfect story for a much-anticipated IPO,\u201d the online commenter wrote.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">SpaceX has not officially confirmed the date of its public listing, but multiple media reports have said it is planning to do so as early as June 12.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cHigh frequency and reliability launches of Starship \u2013 as a must for delivering big promises such as orbital data centres and moon and Mars landings \u2013 are still out of sight,\u201d the commenter
