SAN ANTONIO, TX \u2014 It\u2019s been over two weeks since the floods in Kerr County claimed hundreds of lives. Mike Richards cabin was swept away by the Guadalupe River, but he isn\u2019t focusing on rebuilding now. <\/p>\n
Instead, he\u2019s focusing on giving families closure after finding 10 bodies of flood victims on his two mile stretch of land along the Guadalupe River.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe very first body, it was down here,\u201d Richards said. \u201cRight at the bottom.\u201d<\/p>\n
Richards says it haunts him that he wasn\u2019t able to help the first victim found on his property because there were signs, he was still alive.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe man had been bleeding, and that just indicates to me he was alive when he was here,\u201d Richards said. \u201cI don\u2019t know if I could\u2019ve saved him or not. I just would\u2019ve liked the opportunity to try.\u201d<\/p>\n
Although the images are stained in this memory, Richards says he felt in his heart to push on to find others.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s somebody\u2019s grandad that was there,\u201d Richards said. \u201cSomebody\u2019s son. They mean a lot to people. I\u2019m just glad to bring him closure for his family.\u201d<\/p>\n
With the help of over 200 volunteers Richards was able to search almost every corner of his land.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne was found in a tree, and the rest were found by the river,\u201d Richards said.<\/p>\n
But there is one corner he says is left unturned that search and rescue dogs are drawn to.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne spot right over there,\u201d Richards said. \u201cIt\u2019s probably 50×100 ft.
