{"id":82383,"date":"2025-07-22T05:35:09","date_gmt":"2025-07-22T05:35:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/82383\/"},"modified":"2025-07-22T05:35:09","modified_gmt":"2025-07-22T05:35:09","slug":"la-times-to-go-public-owner-announces-on-the-daily-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/82383\/","title":{"rendered":"LA Times to go public, owner announces on &#8216;The Daily Show&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LOS ANGELES \u2014 Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, who purchased the &#8220;Los Angeles Times&#8221; in 2018, on Monday announced on \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=OtbRBfnkxRU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Daily Show<\/a>\u201d that he is taking the paper public.<\/p>\n<p>In going public, Dr. Soon-Shion told Jon Stewart it would allow the paper to be \u201cdemocratized and allow the public to have the ownership of this paper.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cit\u2019s important for the paper to have voices of all,\u201d Dr. Soon-Shion told Stewart.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the public \u2014 investors \u2014 would have a say on the board, \u201cvery much like the football team,\u201d said Dr. Soon-Shion, referring to the publicly owned Green Bay Packers.<\/p>\n<p>When asked when it would occur, Dr. Soon-Shion said it would happen over the next year.
