UPDATE:<\/strong> Fort Worth ISD told The Dallas Express on Tuesday that Shayma Alzubi will be reassigned pending the outcome of an investigation after the district reviewed past social media posts tied to her account. Fort Worth ISD\u2019s selection of Shayma Alzubi as the next principal of Western Hills High School is facing calls for a Texas Education Agency investigation after social media posts tied to her Facebook account circulated online.<\/p>\n

\u201cMs. Shayma Alzubi has been named the new principal for Western Hills High School,\u201d Fort Worth ISD said in a Facebook post<\/a> announcing two new campus principals.<\/p>\n

The district said Alzubi began her career in education in 2013 as a science teacher in Fort Worth ISD and most recently served as an assistant principal.<\/p>\n

Posts Surface After Principal Announcement<\/p>\n

The appointment drew online criticism after screenshots<\/a> circulated showing posts tied to Alzubi\u2019s Facebook account involving Sharia, Black Lives Matter, DACA, Palestine, and school mask mandates.<\/p>\n

One January 23 repost<\/a> from Texas Reporter defended Sharia and pushed back on \u201cDON\u2019T SHARIA MY TEXAS\u201d posts.<\/p>\n

\u201cSharia law isn\u2019t coming for Texas. Not today. Not tomorrow. Not ever,\u201d the repost stated. The post also described Sharia as \u201ca moral and religious framework\u201d in Islam and compared it to \u201cbiblical principles\u201d for Christians and Halakha in Jewish communities.<\/p>\n

Other screenshots from the account showed a black image reading \u201cBLACK LIVES MATTER,\u201d a post stating \u201cI am #WithDreamers I SUPPORT DACA,\u201d and an image referencing Palestine.<\/p>\n

An August 2021 repost from FWISD 4 ALL urged people to \u201cDemand a VOTE for MASKS\u201d at a Fort Worth ISD school board meeting and included a graphic calling for a school mask mandate.<\/p>\n

The discussion comes amid broader political debate in Texas over Sharia, immigration, and public education.<\/p>\n

As previously reported by The Dallas Express<\/a>, U.S. Rep. Brandon Gill (R-Texas) told DX in February that large-scale Islamic migration is \u201cfundamentally transforming\u201d the Dallas-Fort Worth area.<\/p>\n

The Dallas Express reviewed Alzubi\u2019s Facebook page Tuesday and found that several posts shown in circulating screenshots were no longer publicly visible.<\/p>\n

Pickren Calls For TEA Investigation<\/p>\n

State Board of Education member Julie Pickren called on the Texas Education Agency to investigate<\/a> Alzubi and Steve Lecholop, TEA\u2019s deputy commissioner of school governance, who oversees the Fort Worth ISD Board of Managers.<\/p>\n

Pickren wrote on X that she was calling on TEA to investigate Alzubi for alleged violations of the Texas Code of Ethics for administrators. She also asked for an investigation into Lecholop\u2019s oversight of the Fort Worth ISD Board of Managers.<\/p>\n

Hall Criticizes Appointment<\/p>\n

The posts have drawn reactions from political figures and high-profile social media accounts.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very concerned to see the extreme content that was apparently posted on social media by Shayma Alzubi,\u201d<\/strong> Brandon Hall told The Dallas Express.<\/p>\n

\u201cSchool leaders should be held to a higher standard and should be focused on education, not left-wing and Islamist activism. She should not be a principal under any circumstances,\u201d Hall added.<\/p>\n

Libs of TikTok reposted the screenshots and directed followers to Fort Worth ISD leadership.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf it alarms you that this person will be in charge of educating your kids you can contact the superintendent here,\u201d the account posted<\/a> on X.<\/p>\n
