bills addressing menopause introduced in the Assembly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Manhattan state lawmaker has introduced a package of bills addressing the issues women face during perimenopause and menopause, the biological era in a woman\u2019s life when her menstrual cycle ends, and her hormones start to fluctuate.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a difficult time for women, emotionally, physically and psychologically, because menopause can be accompanied by forgetfulness, insomnia, hot flashes, hair loss, weight gain and heart disease, among other issues. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>State Assemblymember Linda Rosenthal, who sponsored the state\u2019s menstrual equity laws, has introduced three bills to address the gaps in both health care and workplace protections for women.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/nys-capital-tonight-time-graphic-promo960x540jpgjpg.jpeg\" class=\"hashed-image\" img-data-alignment=\"center\" img-data-width=\"percent-fifty\" alt=\"\" img-data-wrap-text=\"false\" img-data-editing=\"true\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/legislation\/bills\/2025\/A5444\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A.5444\u00a0<\/a>would amend the insurance law to cover perimenopausal and menopausal care and treatment.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/legislation\/bills\/2025\/A5436\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A.5436<\/a> relates to preventing discrimination and increasing awareness around these issues and requires employers to provide employees with information on regulations and rights for impacted employees.<\/p>\n<p>A third bill would require the state to create an information pamphlet for patients with information on the stages of menopause, common symptoms and treatment options.<\/p>\n<p>The bill were introduced after the most recent legislative session ended
