HOUSTON <\/strong> \u2013 Thousands of customers are without electricity across the Houston area as thunderstorms move through Southeast Texas, according to the latest data from Entergy<\/b><\/a> <\/b>and CenterPoint.<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n As of 5 a.m. on Wednesday, more than 23,000 CenterPoint Energy customers are without power. <\/p>\n CenterPoint said it has restored 56,000 customers since weather impacts started around 1 a.m. The company said as of 5 a.m., 99% of its electric customers have power. <\/p>\n \u201cOur Emergency Operations Center is activated and our enhanced workforce of more than 2,000 frontline personnel and contractors will continue working to restore power to all impacted customers,\u201d CenterPoint says. <\/p>\n Restoration & Response Actions (as of 5 a.m.)<\/b> <\/p>\n The scope of CenterPoint\u2019s storm response and restoration includes the following actions: <\/p>\n Approximately 2,000 CenterPoint frontline workers and contractors have restored approximately 56,000 customers<\/b> since the storms arrived at 1 a.m. Wednesday morning. <\/p>\n<\/li>\n CenterPoint crews are actively working to restore power to the remaining approximately 23,000 customers who are currently without service and will continue restoring customers throughout the day.
