Chicago White Sox starter Noah Schultz<\/a> was placed on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday with right knee patellar tendinitis, which he said has been nagging him for the last week or so.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust something that I\u2019ve kind of dealt with last year, but something you catch before it gets worse,\u201d Schultz said. \u201cTried playing through it last year. At the time it was not worth playing through. We already have a schedule for the next week or so and are kind of getting back into it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Venable said the Sox believe it\u2019s a minimal IL stint and Schultz will continue keeping his arm strong while resting the knee. The move was made retroactive to Monday.<\/p>\n

Starter David Sandlin<\/a>, acquired from the Boston Red Sox on Feb. 1 along with reliever Jordan Hicks, was called up from Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday and will make his major-league debut Wednesday against the Twins.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-4 Sandlin, who played with Cubs star Cade Horton at the University of Oklahoma, posted a 0.75 ERA and 17 strikeouts over 12 innings in his four starts at Charlotte. Before Tuesday\u2019s game he spoke of his unusual journey to the majors, saying he didn\u2019t play varsity baseball until his senior year in high school and was not recruited by any college.<\/p>\n

He wound up at Eastern Oklahoma State.<\/p>\n

\u201cI sent emails to all the junior colleges in Oklahoma, and they were the only ones that answered the email back, so I went down there,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

For the 2022 season he transferred to Oklahoma, became an 11th-round draft pick by Kansas City later that summer, and now begins his big-league career with the Sox, his third organization. He\u2019s the latest call-up from Charlotte, where the next wave of prospects is anxiously watching the rebuild.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d say everybody there is biding their time, putting their work in,\u201d Sandlin said. \u201cWe want to have fun and work down there and try and replicate the vibes we see on TV up here.\u201d<\/p>\n

How are those vibes?<\/p>\n

\u201cImmaculate, I\u2019d say,\u201d he said. \u201cIt looks like they\u2019re having a good time, winning games.
