The heady line is one of the standout statements in the new biopic documenting Carrington\u2019s life and work.<\/p>\n<p>Directed by Thor Klein and Lena Vurma and produced by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.modernfilms.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Modern Films<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=xMmW7-CBMn4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Leonora in the Morning Light<\/a> opens in 1930s Paris, when the artist was enmeshed in an avant-garde community that included luminaries like Salvador Dal\u00ed and Andr\u00e9 Breton, along with her partner Max Ernst. When World War II begins, Carrington flees to Spain before eventually re-settling in Mexico, perhaps the location most associated with her work.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/leonora-6.jpg\" class=\"swipebox\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-474417\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1334\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/leonora-6.jpg\" alt=\"a white woman with dark curly hair painting\" class=\"wp-image-474423\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The film is based on the biographical novel by Elena Poniatowska and comes at a time when Carrington\u2019s oeuvre is in the spotlight, particularly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/artanddesign\/2026\/may\/28\/leonora-carrington-work-painted-during-psychiatric-confinement-to-go-on-show-for-first-time\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">the fantastical work<\/a> made while she was confined to a psychiatric hospital in Spain which had been lost for 80 years.<\/p>\n<p>Modern Films is also behind <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thisiscolossal.com\/2020\/04\/hilma-af-klint-documentary\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the documentary<\/a> about pioneering artist Hilma af Klint, along with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.modernfilms.com\/boomforreal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Boom For Real<\/a>, which chronicles Jean-Michel Basquiat\u2019s teenage years.
